Old treasures...

old flight ticket stubs, movie ticket stubs, train ticket stubs, old receipts... do you keep them? you should... not all, just a few significant ones - perhaps of trips made with the significant other, and purchases made for loved ones. stash it somewhere - it could be a piece of memory you can reminisce later.

i found an old Penang ferry ticket stub in my mother's old recipe book from the 1960s. the tiny, bright red ticket was printed in England! (wrote this 2 weeks ago and last night wanted to snap a photo and it wasn't there in the book!! i hope i didn't lose it!! have to search for it carefully tonight)

i wonder what trip it was that made her keep it. was it kept intentionally, or did it find its own way into the old recipe book. i must ask her one of these days.

it was wonderful to see evidence of life once lived. the recipe book was written in the 60s too, with the old Bahasa Melayu spelling. the book includes tips on managing a home - "menjaga kesehatan keluarga". old and jaded things fascinate me.

I do keep some of them not in an organized fashion but more of placing little pieces here and there hoping to find them much later. And when I do...aaaaah I'd be singing along to the melody which somehow escapes from the trinkets.

I found a note in my jacket pocket of my late hubby's writing, taking down a message for an interview back in 1999. The interview went great. I got the job. The wrinkled insignificant paper then has now become priceless.....and my jacket needs a wash....
My drawer(s) are full of little priceless significance. How can I throw them all away? I can't throw any away!

Masa gi holiday dgn family ke UK in 2001 pun simpan tickets masuk Madame Tussaud, tube/train tickets..jakun huhu, yelah bukan bleh pegi UK selalu :)

wiz -- what a pleasant surprise it is kan bila accidentally jumpa... i do that with money too... best giler bila terjumpa a blue note or two in between handbag compartments... like you, my little treasures are not organised either!!

dr petite -- my drawers are full of them too!! one of those i treasure is the little note my eldest wrote to "mommy and daddy, happy valentines day, i love you" - on a buku sekolah piece of paper - she may have written it on the school bus on the way back home. 7 days after that it was going to be just mommy :(

amy -- jakun, jgn tak jakun :) bukan senang nak gi jauh2 gitu, kan? i too have movie stubs from the 90s... "i miss you notes" and plane tickets stubs yg tak terbuang... they are little reminders of a time once lived...

You should read Cecilia Ahern's 'End of the rainbow' ~ and you know that you SHOULD have a treasure chest to keep all these little treasures

From what you wrote and the comments from your readers here, I know I have done the right thing. Sometimes I don't know why, but I do. Eevn something as silly as movie tix stubs! I've got a whiole box of them, I just stash them there. Yup, junk collector.
