Time-out with the girls

Every now and then, our group of girlfriends at work get together to celebrate each other's birthday. We'd pick a Friday closest to a birthdate to celebrate. This is done during the long lunch break from 12.30pm -2.45 pm. Yes, two hours and 15 minutes -- jangan jeles!! ;-)

Usually, we'd celebrate at a restaurant near our office but yesterday, we celebrated M & H's birthday at S' new home -- sort of a birthday celeb cum housewarming party. S actually resigned from the company about a year ago and is now a stay-at-home-mom and we're so jealous!! hehe

Nine of us gathered at S' new home (sesat barat bagai -- thank God it's only about 15 minutes away from work) and of course the main agenda is makan-makan!!

The gracious host prepared two types of pasta, special popiah goreng (yummms) and fruit salad while some of us topped up the spread with apam gula hangus, trifle and rojak buah.

I brought my mini chocolicious treats and... was entrusted and commissioned to bake the birthday cake.

I chose to bake a blueberry cheesecake for the special occasion -- I'd have to say thank you to my niece Mya, a seasoned cheesecake baker who actually came over the night before to 'supervise'. Thanks, love!

One of the birthday girl, H punyalah tension as she had to leave by 2pm on the dot to deputise her dept head (H also left the company about a year and half ago to lecture at a uni) for a meeting. In the end she left at 2.15pm... actually semuanya tensionlah sebab gathering makan2 and gossip2 had to be stopped abruptly and have to go back to work!! hmmm... what to do??
